Question 1

Which Renault 1.2 TCe engines had oil consumption problems?

Accepted Answer

The 1.2 TCe four-cylinder of 115 to 130 hp, fitted from about 2012 to 2016 to the Clio, Captur, Mégane and Kadjar, can burn oil. Check the oil level before buying and ask what work has been done on the engine.

Question 2

Is a Renault Eco-G LPG worth buying in Italy?

Accepted Answer

Often yes: Eco-G versions run on petrol or LPG from the factory, and LPG is sold widely in Italy and costs less per kilometre. Several regions, such as Lazio and Tuscany, charge a petrol-LPG car one flat bollo rate per kW, and the LPG tank must be replaced ten years after manufacture.

Question 3

What is the difference between the Renault 0.9 TCe and 1.0 TCe?

Accepted Answer

Both are turbocharged three-cylinders. The 0.9 TCe of 90 hp powered the Clio IV and the first Captur; the 1.0 TCe of 90 to 100 hp replaced it from 2019 in the Clio V and the second Captur, and also runs the Eco-G 100 LPG versions.

Question 4

Which new petrol Renault versions are on sale in Italy?

Accepted Answer

The Clio and Captur come with the TCe 115 or the Eco-G 120, which also runs on LPG, and the Symbioz adds a 140 hp mild hybrid with an automatic. The Kangoo has a TCe 100 or 130, with a manual or EDC automatic gearbox.
