Question 1

Which used SEAT is the most reliable?

Accepted Answer

Ibiza and Leon models with the 1.0 TSI petrol or the 1.6 TDI diesel have a good record when serviced on time. Treat early 1.2 TSI engines, built up to about 2012, with care: their timing chain can stretch.

Question 2

Is SEAT the same as Volkswagen?

Accepted Answer

SEAT belongs to the Volkswagen group and builds its cars on shared platforms with group engines and gearboxes. The Leon shares its base with the Golf and the Ibiza with the Polo, so parts and know-how are easy to find.

Question 3

What is a SEAT TGI?

Accepted Answer

A TGI runs on methane as well as petrol, with tanks fitted at the factory; the Ibiza, Arona and Leon all offered one. Check the cylinders' expiry date, shown on the Documento Unico, before buying.

Question 4

How much does a new SEAT Ibiza or Arona cost?

Accepted Answer

The new Ibiza and Arona are sold with petrol engines only: the 1.0 EcoTSI at 95 or 115 hp, the 150 hp 1.5 TSI with DSG and, on the Ibiza, an 80 hp 1.0 MPI. Each version is listed at SEAT's list price beside the used cars.
