Question 1

How much IPT do you pay on a used car in Turin?

Accepted Answer

The province of Turin adds 30% to the national tariff on a private sale, but 20% when the car is bought with a VAT invoice, as from a dealer. On a 100 kW car that is about €456 privately or €421 from a dealer, plus about €101 of fees.

Question 2

Do electric cars pay the bollo in Piedmont?

Accepted Answer

No, electric, LPG-only and methane-only cars are exempt in Piedmont with no end date. Hybrids of up to 100 kW, Euro 6, registered new from 2025, get 50% off for five years.

Question 3

How is the bollo calculated in Piedmont?

Accepted Answer

Piedmont collects the tax itself, and its rate per kW rises with power: for a Euro 4 to 6 car, €2.58 up to 53 kW and €2.73 up to 100 kW, then higher bands above. Paying by bank direct debit earns 5% off.

Question 4

Can older diesels drive in Turin?

Accepted Answer

The ZTL closes Turin's centre to most private cars at set hours, and winter anti-smog measures in the Po Valley can stop older diesels on alert days. Check the Euro class on the Documento Unico and the city's current rules before buying.
