Question 1

Is the DSG on a used Volkswagen Golf reliable?

Accepted Answer

The wet-clutch DSG used with the 2.0 TDI, GTI and R is robust if its oil was changed when the schedule asked. The seven-speed dry-clutch DQ200 on smaller engines has had mechatronic faults, so watch for judder or jerky shifts at low speed.

Question 2

What is the difference between the Golf eTSI, eHybrid and GTE?

Accepted Answer

The eTSI is a 48-volt mild hybrid that cannot be plugged in. The eHybrid and the sportier GTE are plug-in hybrids that drive on electricity alone for short trips, so they make sense only if charged often.

Question 3

Can a used automatic Golf drive into Milan's Area B?

Accepted Answer

It depends on fuel and Euro class, not on the gearbox: older diesels are excluded first, on a calendar that tightens over the years. Check the Euro class on the Documento Unico against the city's current rules.

Question 4

Which versions does the new automatic Volkswagen Golf come in?

Accepted Answer

All with DSG: the 1.5 eTSI mild hybrid of 115 or 150 hp, the 1.5 TSI Hybrid of 136 or 170 hp, the 2.0 TDI of 150 hp, the 204 hp eHybrid with about 140 km of electric range and the 272 hp GTE. Trims run from Life to R-Line Plus.
