Question 1

Is the DSG gearbox on the Volkswagen T-Roc reliable?

Accepted Answer

Generally yes, if it has been serviced on schedule. The dry-clutch DSG on the 1.5 TSI can judder when pulling away once worn, while the wet-clutch unit on the 2.0 engines needs its oil changed at set intervals.

Question 2

Which automatic Volkswagen T-Roc has four-wheel drive?

Accepted Answer

4Motion came on the 2.0 TSI, on some 2.0 TDI versions and on the T-Roc R, always with DSG. The 1.5 TSI with DSG drives the front wheels only.

Question 3

How do you test the DSG on a used Volkswagen T-Roc?

Accepted Answer

Drive it from cold, in slow traffic and when reversing into a parking space: jerks, a delay when engaging or a clunk point to worn clutches or a faulty mechatronic unit. Ask for invoices for any gearbox work.

Question 4

Is the new Volkswagen T-Roc available as a full hybrid?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the new T-Roc adds the 1.5 TSI Hybrid at 136 or 170 hp beside the 1.5 eTSI mild hybrid at 115 or 150 hp and the 2.0 eTSI of 204 hp with 4Motion. Every version is automatic, in Life, Style and R-Line trims, and the Cabrio offers the 1.5 TSI with DSG.
