Which diesel engine is best on a used Volkswagen T-Roc?

The 2.0 TDI of 150 hp suits drivers who cover long distances and is the one offered with 4Motion and DSG. The 1.6 TDI uses a little less fuel but feels stretched with a full load.

What problems does the Volkswagen T-Roc 2.0 TDI have?

The engine is robust, but cars used only on short urban trips tend to clog the particulate filter and EGR valve. On versions with AdBlue, ask whether the tank, pump or sensor has been replaced.

Does a diesel Volkswagen T-Roc pay more bollo than a petrol one?

No, the bollo is charged on kW and Euro class, not on fuel, so a Euro 6 diesel T-Roc pays the same as a petrol one of equal power. The rate depends on the owner's region.

Is a 4Motion diesel Volkswagen T-Roc worth it?

It is for drivers in the Alps and Apennines facing snow and steep roads, as 4Motion sends torque to the rear wheels when the front ones slip. It adds weight and fuel consumption, so a front-drive car on winter tyres suits most others.
