Question 1

Which engine is best on a used Volkswagen Tiguan?

Accepted Answer

The 2.0 TDI of 150 hp is the most common and suits long distances, with 4Motion for snowy roads. The 1.5 TSI petrol suits lower mileages, and the eHybrid plug-in only pays off if you can charge at home.

Question 2

Does the Volkswagen Tiguan R pay the superbollo?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the second-generation Tiguan R has 320 hp, about 235 kW, well above the 185 kW threshold, so it pays the superbollo every year on top of the bollo until the car is twenty years old.

Question 3

What problems does the second-generation Volkswagen Tiguan have?

Accepted Answer

On 2.0 TDIs used mainly in town, the particulate filter and EGR valve can clog, and later diesels need a working AdBlue system. On DSG cars, check for jerks when pulling away and ask whether the gearbox oil was changed on time.

Question 4

What is the difference between the Tiguan and the Tiguan Allspace?

Accepted Answer

The Allspace, sold from 2017, has a longer wheelbase and body, a bigger boot and, in seven-seat versions, a third row. Mechanically it matches the standard second-generation Tiguan.

Question 5

What engines does the new Volkswagen Tiguan have?

Accepted Answer

The new Tiguan comes with DSG only: the 1.5 eTSI mild hybrid at 130 or 150 hp, the 1.5 TSI eHybrid plug-in at 204 or 272 hp with a 20 kWh battery, and the 2.0 TDI at 150 hp or 193 hp with 4Motion, in trims from Life to R-Line Plus.
